Assigning assessments is the first step to gathering that sweet, sweet data! In this article, you'll learn how to assign and unassign articles, preview content, and add customizations like free response questions and due dates.

โ How to Assign an Article
Navigate to the "Articles" tab on your RocketLit dashboard.
Search for an article using one of the following methods:
Search Bar โ Type in keywords, vocabulary terms, or NGSS standards.
By Standards โ Click the "Standards" tile to browse by NGSS performance expectations.
By Units โ Click the "Units" tile to explore content areas and specific science or history topics.
By Popularity โ Scroll to the "Popular in Science" section for articles commonly assigned by other teachers.
Once youโve found the perfect article, click the gray "Assign Me" circle next to the title. It will turn green once selected.
Your class rosters will appear below. You can:
Keep all rosters selected (default)
Uncheck specific rosters to assign the article to only select classes
๐ช Tada! The article is now assigned and will appear on your studentsโ dashboards the next time they log in.
๐ Pro Tip: Want to save an article for later? Click the "Save for Later" button.

๐๏ธ How to Preview Article Content
Before assigning an article, you can preview the following components to ensure it aligns with your instructional goals:
Vocabulary covered in the article (listed directly under the article title)
The full article text, viewable at different reading levels
The multiple-choice quiz questions
The optional free response question

Add a Free Response Question
After assigning the article, click on the gray "Free Response" text.
It will turn white to confirm that the question is now part of the quiz for that roster.

Set a Due Date
After assigning the article, click on the "Due Anytime" text.
A calendar will pop upโselect the desired due date.
โ ๏ธ Note: Students can still complete the assignment after the due date.

โ How to Unassign an Assessment
Need to remove an article from your students' dashboards? Follow the steps below to unassign an article from all or specific rosters.
Search for the article by title in the Articles tab.
Choose one of the two options:
Unassign from all rosters: Click the blue "Assigned" circle. It will turn gray, indicating it has been unassigned from all rosters.
Unassign from specific rosters: Uncheck the boxes next to the rosters you no longer want to assign the article to.
โ ๏ธ Important Note:
Students who have already submitted the assignment will still see the article in their "Scores" tab.
For students who have not submitted, the article will disappear from their dashboard once itโs unassigned.
