RocketLit is dedicated to supporting all learners throughout their science literacy journey. This guide will break down the features available to support your learners.

šŸ–Šļø Annotating Feature

šŸ—£ļø RocketLit's Text-to-Speech Feature

RocketLitā€™s Text-to-Speech feature allows students to listen to articles read aloud. By default, the read-aloud player only appears on the 3rd/4th reading level of an article.

Students will find the player located in the top-right corner under the heading artwork.

šŸ“– To learn more about RocketLitā€™s Text-to-Speech feature or how to enable it for students at any reading level, see How to Use RocketLit's Text-to-Speech Feature.

šŸ–Šļø Annotating Feature

RocketLitā€™s annotating feature allows students to:

  • Highlight text

  • Write notes on sticky notes

  • Circle text

  • Bracket text

These tools help students absorb and process information, as well as make inferences.

šŸŒ Recommended Translator: Google Translate

Google Translate integrates with RocketLitā€™s articles and questions to translate content into any language.

There are two methods to use Google Translate on RocketLit:

1. Option 1: Built-In Google Translate for Webpages

This method translates the entire webpage, including articles, questions, and answer choices.

How to Enable Built-In Google Translate:

  1. In the studentā€™s Google Chrome browser, click the three dots in the top-right corner.

  2. Select ā€œTranslate...ā€ from the menu.

  3. Click the three dots in the translation pop-up.

  4. Select ā€œChoose Another Languageā€ and pick the desired language.

  5. Refresh the page if the translation does not occur automatically.

2. Option 2: Google Chrome Extension

The Chrome Extension translates highlighted words or phrases within articles and answer choices.

āš ļø Note: The Chrome Extension does not translate assessment questions.

How to Enable Pop-Up Translations:

  1. Add the Google Chrome Translation Extension:

    • Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store if you donā€™t already have it.

  2. Open Extension Settings:

    • Click the extension icon and select ā€œOptions.ā€

  3. Customize Your Translation Settings:

    • Display Icon: Show an icon you can click to display translations for highlighted text.

    • Immediately Display Popup: Automatically display translations for highlighted text without needing to click.

Happy Rocketeering! šŸš€
